Remember, your share of stock is bought and sold at an auction. So it’s only worth whatever the highest bidder is willing to pay for it when you sell it.
Or if you are buying, a stock is worth the lowest amount the seller is willing to sell it for.
So you are always in competition with the other buyers and sellers. Even if you are not selling your stocks, their value changes all through the day — because it’s an all day auction every day.
So WHEN you buy and sell a stock is important. We’ll get into that later.
Just remember that your shares of stock are worth more or less every minute of every day. They don’t have a fixed price.
Just like an auction.
